Spot Light Plant Lamp Mod
Your plants deserve good lighting. For reasons beyond the scope of this post, I like to use ultra-efficient spot lights. Those come at a maximum brightness of 360lm. That's about enough for a single small plant, so when you have multiple plants close together, you may want to fit multiple spot lights into a single housing. That's what this build is for.
I used this 20 euro lamp from B.K.Licht on amazon.de and adapted it to fit 3 GU10 spot lights instead of a single E27 bulb.
I disassembled the lamp and replaced the internal E27 fixture with a 3D printed part and 3x GU10 fittings. Those fittings can be bought very cheaply (~1 euro each) from various sources.
These are the three 3D-printed parts, which you can download from Thangs :
I recommend to use heat-set threaded inserts for bolts to tighten into:
These can be bought cheaply from Aliexpress, though you will need a soldering iron and ideally an threaded insert adapter for your soldering iron.
This is what things look like with the 3 GU10 fittings in place:
This assembly can then be attached to the long cylinder with a single bolt, which allows for rotation so you can orient your spot lights as desired:
The threaded part of the golden cylinder fits through the rear of the lamp:
It is then fixed into place with the black 3d-printed nut:
There is a hole through the bolt and nut for the electrical wire to go into the lamp housing, just as in the original lamp design. To attach the wires, it helps to loosen the nut or to elongate the wire going into the lamp housing. That leaves us with the assembly and the cables fixed: !
Which, finally, with the GU10 spots inserted, yields this result:
This gives us happy plants:
